ARMOUR SWIFT-ECKRICH is
on their 74th trade. Over the past 20 years they have traded
over 1,400,000 cases of product from Butterball, Peter Eckrich, Swift
Premium, Armour and Pfaelzer. The Armour division produced a
sizable quantity of Quick Fixin’s that was sold to an account
offshore. For years, they
have been taking their branded, perishable goods, and trading them for
sale into non-retail accounts or food service. In exchange they received
over $60 million worth of media.

SARA LEE traded
over 300,000 cases of specialty meat products from Bryan Foods, Bil Mar
Foods, Parks Sausage and Rudy’s Farm. In each instance their
products were safely remarketed into alternative channels of distribution.

Since 1988 DOLE traded over 2,500,000 cases of Dole brand
products. Everything from canned pineapple slices, chunks, crushed and
pieces, to over 12 million frozen juice bars! They received over $22
million worth of media for Dole branded product.

ROCCO traded
for the majority of their media budget in exchange for 80,000 cases of
frozen processed products and fresh-frozen products. Shady Brook Farms and
Marvel labeled product was delivered monthly to retail accounts
(previously cleared with sales management) outside of their normal
geographic distribution.

CROWN ZELLERBACH traded
over 1,000,000 cases from 1978 through 1986… JAMES RIVER traded
more than 600,000 cases from 1985 through 1991…and SCOTT PAPER
traded over 800,000 cases. James River produced the Tradewins private label
brand of paper cups and plates on the Dixie production lines. This
trade allowed James River to use underutilized production capacity, put a
profitable sale on its books, and reduce its out of pocket cash cost of
advertising. Within the paper industry, such notable brands as Northern,
Brawny, Tuf N’Ready, Nice ‘N Soft, Marina, Vanity Fair, Bolt, Scott
Towels and Dixie have traded for more than $70,000,000
worth of media.

LA VICTORIA packaged for use over 350,000 cases of salsa in
almost every variety- to be used expressly for opening new markets
covering several states. The trade was constructed to provide specific
market by market media buys according to guidelines provided by their
agency.

VAN CAMP SEAFOOD traded over 70,000 cases of Chicken of
the Sea lunch-pack tuna fish that was near the expiration date. The
entire inventory was quickly re-packed
and sold to a mutually agreed account.

Nestlé
traded an inventory of Easter-packed
candy only a few days prior to the holiday. All 300,000 cases were
remarketed in strict accordance with the guidelines set down by Nestle.
Nestle then ran into a problem with institutional drums of ice cream,
which they scooped up in a quick trade, which were remarketed
“lickity” split.
POPSICLE
traded an inventory of frozen juice bars totaling more than 130,000 cases.
All of the products were moved safely into pre-approved accounts. Popsicle
utilized their credit for both radio and television advertising
